Here is list of basic soap making supplies:
I have found the best place to purchase supplies when you first start is Dollar Tree. This place is my best friend, a life saver when I'm in a pinch and won't break the bank.
When it comes to soap molds, it's best to collect cardboard, plastic or silicone containers you may already have in your pantry or refrigerator. Here is list of inexpensive options I think work best:
Calculate the Volume
In order to know how many ounces of soap is needed for your mold, use these simple calculations:
The best routine for the season is to cleanse, exfoliate and moisturize.
1. Cleanse
Our soaps are made with skin loving oils that won't strip your skin of its natural oils needed to absorb moisture and are made with all natural ingredients to further renew your skin letting your natural beauty shine through. Coconut Oil provides high cleansing properties and large bubbles. Olive Oil moisturizes the skin. Castor Oil adds a nice lather and Shea Butter makes a hard, yet conditioning and creamy bar of soap.
2. Exfoliate
Some of our soaps contain exfoliants such as poppy seeds, oatmeal, wheat bran, coffee grounds and sand. Exfoliating removes dead skin and reveals the new layer of skin underneath helping to keep the skin soft and smooth, evens the skin tone and boosts collagen. This is especially helpful to treat acne and other skin conditions to prevent oil and dirt from getting under the skins surface.
3. Moisturize
Without moisturizing, your skin is exposed to the environment leading to inflamed and dry skin causing irritation and run the risk of more wrinkles.
Whipped Body Butter is the perfect solution to moisturize dry and weather worn skin. It is thicker than a lotion and more moisturizing, making it great for year round, but especially for the winter season. It is great for the hands, feet and body, but may be heavy for the face.
Our Whipped Body Butters are 80% butters and 20% carrier oils such as shea butter, cocoa butter, mango butter, coconut oil, olive oil, grapeseed oil, almond oil avocado oil and more. It’s as easy as melting butter and whipping until its light and fluffy. melts right into your skin.]]>Although handmade soap has skin loving ingredients, it does not last as long in the shower. If you're using handmade soap for the first time, my best advice is to make sure you're using a well drained soap dish or shower rack. If the soap sits in water for too long, it will get soft pretty quickly.
The soap dish should be elevated and allow water to drain. In the shower, a shower rack works best.
Here are more tips:
1. Store your soap on a well drained soap dish so it does not drown in water.
2. Use your handmade soap within 6 months of purchase.
3. Store unused soap in a cool, well ventilated area.
Why on earth would we add beer to soap?
Although, beer soap sounds like a man's world, more women have been reaching for it because of the great skin and hair benefits!
Our beer soaps are perfect for the beer lover in your life. Beer soap does not smell like beer, but it does have the aroma from hops, malt and extracts which is skin softening and soothes irritated skin.
Every ingredient it took to make the beer stays inside the soap, except the alcohol of course.
HOPS - The hops in beer contains skin softening amino acids that help maintain skin’s hydration, texture, resilience and supple, healthy appearance.
These amino acids help hydrate the skin, restore collagen, repair damaged tissue, fight free radicals that cause wrinkles, soothe irritated skin and help improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
YEAST - The yeast in beer is hydrating, anti-aging, collagen-producing and brightening. It also acts as an antibacterial agent, reducing breakouts.
B VITAMINS - Beer also contains B vitamins that moisturize skin, can help improve the overall condition of the skin by helping to treat sun-damaged, dry, aging skin and adds glow to your skin.
When it comes to hair, beer shampoo softens, enriches & shines.
Preservatives are necessary in liquid shampoo to prevent mold and bacteria, and bar soap does not need preservatives.
Silicons create a plastic coating on dry, damaged, color treated hair to make it look and feel healthy, but it’s an artificial band-aid. It's hard to rinse off, so it stays on the hair shaft. If you have been using commercial shampoos, they are basically detergents that create bubbles. The buildup on your hair is not being reinforced & your hair doesn’t look healthy as the coating breaks down. After the transition period is over, the bar soap repairs the hair.
So head over to our beer soap and shampoo page to grab one or a entire six pack!
Cheers, partner!
